Description

Hello,
I'm trying to figure out how to best calculate the length of time for individual interviews in wave 8. It looks like in h_indresp_ip, there are variables for start time:
h_indstimehh individual interview start time (hours)
h_indstimemm individual interview start time (minutes)
h_indstimess individual interview start time (seconds)
But then there is no corresponding data for the end time. How can I compute the length of time for each interview? Or maybe this variable already exists?
Please let me know when you have a chance.
Thanks!
Dana

Dear Dana,

There are three timings files included in the data download of the IP data, one for the household grid, one for the household questionnaire and one for the individual questionnaire. They are.csv files from wave 7 onwards, and all have “timings” in the title. You can find out more information about them in the IP User Guide.

Best wishes,
