Why lost to follow between wave1 & wave4 is much higher than between wave4 & wave7?

Dear Jingjing Wang,
Do you mean that more people dropped out of the Survey between Waves 1 and 4 than between Waves 4 and 7? This will mainly be because the second wave of a longitudnial study is likely to have a higher number of refusals than other waves. This (and response rates in general) is discussed in section 2.3.4 (in particular 2.3.4.2) of the Mainstage User Guide, which you can download here: https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/user-guide
