Description

Dear Support Team,

I am emailing you because I am trying to understand how the weights should be applied for my first project based on US.

My subsample is children at Year 6 (10-11 years old) and I want to use "Youth self-completion". I use all waves.

As I understand it should be something like _ythscub_lw. First, I an not sure which prefix I need to use if I want to use all waves and, second, I can't find any weight ending "lw", I can find only "xw".

Thank you very much in advance.

Yulia,

We do not provide longitudinal weights for youth self-completion because there is no child that participated in all waves (maximum number of years a child can fill youth questionnaire is 6 - as they fill them up between ages 10 and 15). The suboptimal weight you can use is a longitudinal enumeration weight.

Hope this answers your question,
Olena

Thank you for your answer.

I couldn’t reply through the US User Support website that’s why I am emailing you directly.

Olena, do you know where I can find those weights you mentioned in your answer?

Best,
Yuliya

Yuliya,

The longitudinal enumeration weight W_psnenub_lw (if you don't use wave 1 of UKHLS) or W_psnenus_lw (if you use wave 1 of UKHLS) can be found in indall.dta of each wave.

Thanks,
Olena
