Description

Hi,

I have the special licence data for USoc and harmonised BHPS. I was sure that before there was a variable called dep9ctax which had the council tax bill of the household in at least the harmonised BHPS, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Am I just missing it or has it been removed from the special licence version?

The variable name has been changed to w_ficountax_dv. Please see page 99 of the user guide:

Thanks Alita. I still cannot find a council tax variable in the harmonised BHPS, however. Has that been removed?

This is only available in the Special License Version. Have you downloaded that?

Sorry Tom, I did not realise you were asking about the BHPS files. This variable is only available in the UKHLS files.

In the BHPS b?_hhresp files, you will find these related variables:
b?_rent8 "Rent includes council tax"
b?_hsctax "Council tax band of accommodation"

For more information on the BHPS harmonised files see the user guide https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/sites/default/files/downloads/documentation/mainstage/user-guides/bhps-harmonised-user-guide.pdf
And in that look at page 19 for the harmonised income variables
