Description

Hi there

In the BHPS XWAVEDAT dataset BHPS reports the variable citzn1 (citizenship first mentioned) over all 18 waves. I have found around 176 Individuals from EU (without Ireland).

It reports Valid cases 26660 and Missing cases 16612.

Is there any change, that i can get Information about citizenship of the 16612 missing cases?

Why are there so many missing cases? If i am looking at the single waves, it does not look like there are many missing cases except the individuals who already answered this question.

Thank you for your answer :)
Matthias

Dear Matthias,
As XEAVEDAT includes everyone ever enumerated in the BHPS, it means it also includes children who are not asked these questions. When the children turn 16 they are eligible for the adult interview. If they participate in that then they would be asked this question. You can compare with other variables only collected during the adult interviews such as RACE.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Alita
