Hi,
I am doing some research which involves looking at wages. In the data for the variable "total monthly labour income gross" (w_fimnlabgrs_dv) there are negative values ( I have a minimum value of -28701) I was wondering if anyone knows the reason for this or what this variable is actually representing?

Many thanks for your enquiry.
Total labour income is the sum of income as an employee, income from self-employment and income from second jobs. Negative values on total labour income should always arise from losses from self-employment. These negative self-employment values (a_seearngrs_dv) may be reported or imputed (which may be distinguished using a_seearngrs_if). Income from being an employee or in second jobs should not be negative.
