Description

Dear User Support,

I have matched spouses using the wave 1 data and my unit of analysis is marriage, with two variables for husband and two others for wife, both of which are from the individual questionnaires. Since the data set does not provide weights for couple data, I was wondering if you could offer any advice in this regard? If a compromise had to be made and the weights for adult individual responses 'a_indinus_xw' was used instead, for each marriage case, there would thus be two weights, one from the husband and one from the wife, then which one should be used?

Thanks!

  • Category set to Data analysis
  • Target version set to M1
  • % Done changed from 0 to 50

If you need information for your model from both a wife and a husband then the best weights for you would be household cross-sectional weights. Note, these will be suboptimal as the weight does not account for within-household nonresponse.

Hope this helps,
Olena
