Description
Dear Support-Team,
I am trying to make sense of the variable "vote7" which is called "voted in last general election". If I look at the distribution of the variable (e.g. in wave 11), about 53% of the respondents are coded as "-8 Inapplicable".
At first, I though that maybe only new respondents who entered the panel after the last election and were not yet asked this question were presented with the item. However, the filter for the variable includes the following: "if ff_snapelect = 1 (General election held prior to end of fixed-term parliament)".
What does that indicate (the variable "ff_snapelect" cannot be searched)? Or more generally, what type of respondents are coded as "-8 Inapplicable"?

Dear Sebastian,
Vote7 was asked only of respondents who completed their interview after the 12th of December 2019, that is, the date of the snap general election (save for a few dozen respondents interviewed before that date who also got this question due to some fieldwork issues). Ff_snapelect was a technical variable used by the fieldwork so it is not included in the public release of the data.
Regarding the routing/filtering in other waves, that is, who was inapplicable in each wave, it corresponds to the election calendar and differs from wave to wave. Please check the universe for vote7 in the questionnaires for waves you are interested in.
