Understanding Society User Support

Dear Understanding Society team,

I am writing to you on behalf of the thinktank Onward, regarding our Social Fabric Index. First published in 2020 using data from a number of variables from different Waves of Understanding Society, we are now in the process of updating our Index with new data.

I wanted to inquire when Wave 12 of Understanding Society is likely to be released, and whether updated versions of the following variables will be included in the forthcoming Wave:

Org - whether member of a local group [last included Wave 9]
Orga - whether participate in local group [last included Wave 9]
Orgm5 - whether member of a Neighbourhood Watch or a Tenant’s / Resident’s group [last included Wave 9]
Oprlg2 - attendance at religious services [last included Wave 8]
Visfrnds - whether go out socially or visit friends when feel like it [last included Wave 9]
Locserb - standard of local medical services [last included Wave 6]
Locserc - standard of public transport [last included Wave 6]

If not, could you please let me know if there are plans to include these variables in subsequent Waves, or whether the variables have been permanently discontinued?
