Description
Hi,
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to find the local unemployment rate of the geographical areas that the respondents in the BHPS survey are in? I want to see the influence of the local unemployment rate on the income levels of the individuals.
If a local unemployment rate is not available, does anyone have a suggestion on where to find the national unemployment rates in various waves of the BHPS survey?
Thanks.
Seok-Woo

Hello,
We do not provide this information with our survey data. But we do provide data on the geographical location of our sample members and you can use this information to link to the local unemployment rate for those geographical locations (available from external sources). To know more about the geographical datasets we provide and how to access these please see https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/linked-data/geographical-identifiers
Best wishes,
