Description

Hello,

My name is Amy and I work in the Office for National Statistics’ Centre for Crime and Justice. We are currently working with the Sustainable Development Goals team to explore whether we can address the following indicators:

• 8.7.1 – Take immediate and effective measures to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking and secure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour, including recruitment and use of child soldiers, and by 2025 end child labour in all its forms
o Proportion and number of children aged 5-17 years engaged in child labour, by sex and age

• 16.2.2 – End abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence against and torture of children
o Number of victims of human trafficking per 100,000 population, by sex, age and form of exploitation

We released a publication last year which explored the issue and brought together data sources linked to modern slavery from a range of organisations. These included data from the Home Office’s NRM, Modern Slavery Helpline and others.

We are writing to enquire as to whether you have, or know of, any appropriate data sources for modern slavery - specifically that on child exploitation and / or child labour. Or, if there are any research projects planned or underway that you think may be of interest to us.

Thank you in advance.
