Description

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am a PhD student at the University of Birmingham. I am using the Understanding Society Wave 2 dataset to research characteristics of the people who state they volunteer. It would be useful to understand how the study defined volunteering i.e. does the definition include formal and informal voluntary activity? I have looked at your website, but I have not had much look in finding out. I would be very grateful if you could provide some information on this, or contact details for who to ask.

The Wave 2 volunteering tool is adapted from the Helping Out survey (see source reference in the questionnaire documentation). You can also see the exact wording that was read out to the respondent in the questionnaire. I hope these few leads will help you get a clearer picture - let me know if not.
