openinapplicable jbhrs when jbsemp=1 (wave 6)
100%
Description
Hello
As far as I understand from the questionnaires, jbhrs should not be inapplicable when jbsempt=1. However, there are a few hundred observations (all in wave 6) for which jbhrs is inaplicable when jbsemp=1. Could you please explain what is the reason for this?
Thank you

Dear Cristina,
During the interview, jbsempchk (And are you still self employed/an employee?) is asked using data fed forward from the previous interview (ff_jbsemp). If they answer no then jbsemp is asked. If they answer yes to jbsempchk then jbsemp should be calculated from the fed forward data. However, during the first quarter of Wave 6, a script error meant jbsemp was not calculated at the time of the interview, which meant that jbhrs was not asked. We corrected jbsemp using the fed forward data before the data was released, so that is why jbsemp==1 and jbhrs==-8. This problem was corrected in the script from the second quarter of Wave 6 onwards.
Best wishes,
Stephanie
