opensf1 and scsf1 understanding

Description
Hi, could you please explain the difference between sf1 and scsf1. My understandng is that sf1 was asked face to face, wheras scsf1 was a self assessed form respondents had to complete. However for waves 6 and 7, the sf1 variable largely reports respondents answers as inapplicable (-8). Could you please explain this?

Hi Oliver,
to reconstruct the inapplicable codes in specific waves and variables you need to check the questionnaires, particularly the universe information provided therein. In Wave 6 you can see the following info for sf1:
Universe
If (GRIDVARIABLES.modetype = 1) // Mode is face-to-face
And If (IProxy = 1) // Able to do a proxy interview for respondent
The question is inapplicable to everyone to whom this condition does not apply. I trust this will also be the case in Wave 7.
Hope this helps,
Gundi
