Description

Hello,
I'm wondering where I might find information on how interviewers were trained to make observations about 1) households and 2) respondents.
Thanks!

Dear Dana,

Many thanks for your enquiry.

Unfortunately we don’t have this information available. It’s part of the standard interviewer training that the fieldwork agency does, and we are not involved with this. In the project-specific briefing for Understanding Society, they are reminded that they make the observations before making contact with the household and not to change the initial observations if they learn additional information during the interview. For example, if they have an initial observation that there is no sign of children at the household, and then find during the household enumeration that there are children, they should not go back and change their observations.

We hope this helps, best wishes, Victoria.
