Description

Hi all
I'm using the understanding society variables: ypfght (fights); ypvand (vandalises); ypshop (shoplifts) and truants (yptruant) in the UKHLS youth sample as measures of ASB.

After searching your website and the internet generally I have been unable to find any examples of other research that has used these variables in the Understanding Society dataset. Consequently, I wondered if you had any reports/ records that any researchers had used these variables?

Many thanks

James

Dear James,

There has been some research on bullying:

But that is all that we are aware of.

Best wishes, Victoria.

Dear James,

Just to add, you could also look at:

Scott JL and Chaudhary C (2003) Beating the odds: youth and family disadvantage, Leicester: National Youth Agency.

Chapter 3, entitled “Agency and Risky Behaviours” uses BHPS youth variables about, amongst other things, vandalism and fighting.

Hope this helps, Victoria.
