Description

Dear Sirs,

I work as a physician in Sweden, but I am now interested in the impact of various individual characteristics on how many children a person will have during lifetime. I recently wrote a Wikipedia article on fertility factors for Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fertility_factor_(demography)) but the only multifactorial study I found was from India:

Rai, Piyush Kant; Pareek, Sarla; Joshi, Hemlata (2013). "Regression Analysis of Collinear Data using r-k Class Estimator: Socio-Economic and Demographic Factors Affecting the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) in India.". Journal of Data Science 11. (www.jds-online.com/file_download/394/JDS-1130.pd)

Given the questions in the Understanding Society survey and its high number of participants, I think it fits better than the Generations and Gender Survey for measuring the fertility impact of various factors in a European population. The main parameter I intend to find associations to appears to be "Nnatch. Number of biological children resp is parent of" which I found in "Main - questionnaire (CAPI)". Would it be possible for me to view the data from the most recent survey that included this parameter, in order to assess the feasibility of using the survey for such a fertility factor study? I will not forward the data to any third party, and not use it for publication before asking you for further permission to do so.

Best regards,

Mikael Haggstrom
