closedBHPS sample in US

Description
Hello,
For my analysis I shall be constructing a panel using the 18 waves of the BHPS and the BHPS sample within US (from wave 2 onwards). I just wanted to clarify which weights I am supposed to use and how to use them correctly.
I read in the BHPS user manual that when conducting longitudinal analysis, I should use the longitudinal weights from the most recent wave. Is this still the case in US? That is, am I to use the wave 4 longitudinal weight (d_indin91_lw) for each of the waves the BHPS and wave 2 & 3 of US?
If this is the case, does this mean that for each observation (my analysis is at the individual level) I am to merge the corresponding longitudinal weight using US wave 4 weights for all of the 18 waves of the BHPS and w2-w4 of US such that each unique individual (pid) in my panel has a weight equal to their corresponding weights in US w4 and this remains constant across all the waves in my panel?
Thanks,
Onyinye

Dear Onyinye,
Yes, if you are doing analysis that simultaneously uses variables from all 21 waves (up to wave 4 of Understanding society) then you should use d_indin91_lw.
