Description
Hi,
For this row in fwintvd_dv:
inapplicable -8 39856 23.67%
Are these all participants that were enrolled and enumerated but never actually interviewed? Can I verify if that means these participants can all be excluded from analysis?
In addition, I'm looking at migrant status and fruit and vegetable consumption and currently I'm creating a baseline characteristics table. On the xwavedat dataset, it seems there are 38 participants wrongly categorised as uk-born in the generation, ukborn, and bornuk_dv variables.
Thank you for everything that you do for this dataset,
Emily

Hi Emily,
fwintvd_dv is derived from the wave-level individual interview outcome variable (w_ivfio), taking the first wave where ivfio indicates a full or proxy individual interview (https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/variables/a_ivfio/).
-8 means that there is no wave in which ivfio shows a qualifying completed (full/proxy) interview for that person.
So these are mostly enumerated sample members never interviewed across the waves covered.
"On the xwavedat dataset, it seems there are 38 participants wrongly categorised as uk-born in the generation, ukborn, and bornuk_dv variables." Would be able to provide more details about this issue?
Best wishes,

Hi Piotr,
Thank you, I will exclude these people.
Sorry I should've given more details...Using both the ukborn and bornuk_dv variables, when I filter for uk born (ukborn=1,2,3,4 and bornuk_dv=1) there are 38 participants who have a value listed for yr2uk4 and a non-uk country of birth. There are also an additional 4 participants who are listed as uk born and are missing a yr2uk4 value but have a different country of birth using plbornc .
Best wishes,
Emily

Hi Emily,
There is some discrepancy between these variables because the sources are different. bornuk_dv is derived from bornuk (Wave 6 IEMB hhgrid) and ukborn. ukborn = 5 triggers plbornc and yr2uk4. Because bornuk is reported by someone in the household, while ukborn is self-reported, some discrepancy is possible.
Best wishes,
Piotr
