Description

Hi
I am going to conduct a longitudinal study about "being single is happy"
So could you please advice which variables to look at?
I think I will need these:
1. longitudinal relationship status (not married)
2. longitudinal mental health status
3. where does the participant live (address)
As for the address, do I get free access to their post code? I think I need that....
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your data and help!

Hello Jolly,

I recommend using the “Mainstage Variables search” tool (https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/variables/), which will help you find the variables you need for your research. You can search by the variable name or by keywords related to the information you're looking for if you're unsure of the exact name.

It may also be useful to explore the Understanding Society key variables guide (https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/user-guides/main-survey-user-guide/understanding-society-key-variables/), where you’ll find key variables relevant to your research.

Regarding geographical data, the Standard End User Licence provides information on country, Government Office Region (GOR), and a condensed urban-rural classification. We have also linked various neighbourhood indicators using the responding households’ address information in the special licence data, please review https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/linked-data/geographical-identifiers/ for more details.

I hope this information is helpful.

Best wishes,
Roberto Cavazos
