openOrder of mainstage interview and self-completion interview

Description
Hi,
According to the documentation, the study aims to complete the self-completion questionnaire in the same meeting as the mainstage interviews, with self-completion questionnaire being left behind to be completed in some circumstances. I wanted to check the sequencing of these: does the interviewer always conduct the mainstage interviews before inviting the respondent to complete the self-completion questionnaire? Or are there cases where the self-completion questionnaire is conducted first?
Thanks,
Joe

Hello Joe,
Youth self-completion questionnaires are the only ones that may be left behind in cases where the young person is not able to complete them when the interviewer visits. Since Wave 3, adult self-completions are part of the adult interview through the Computer Assisted Self-Interview (CASI) sections and are completed during the interview. They can’t be accessed before or after the interview.
In Waves 1 and 2, it may have been possible for the adult self-completion to be completed first. For instance, in a multi-adult household, other adults could have filled out their self-completion questionnaires (on paper) whilst adult 1 is doing their full interview with the interviewer using the Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) method.
I hope this information is helpful.
Best wishes,

Thanks Roberto. This is helpful.
Would it therefore be correct to say that in waves 3 onwards, the questions in the self-completion questionnaire are typically answered after the other questions (in a temporal sense)? I have looked at the interview characteristics variables but they do not typically say the order in which these questions are answered (unless I missed something, which is of course possible!)
For context, I am writing a paper which correlated aspects of a person's self-reported job characteristics with their mental health state as described in the self-completion questionnaire. Colleagues have raised concerns that the order in which a person answers these questions might affect the correlation between them.
Thanks,
Joe

Hello Joe
The order of the questionnaire modules can be found in the questionnaire section at https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/questionnaires/
For example, in Wave 12, the household grid and household questionnaire come first, followed by the individual questionnaire, including the Computer Assisted Self-Interview module. So, in this sense, self-completion is the last section of the individual questionnaire modules.
I hope this information is helpful.
Best wishes,
