openSpecial Licence Access, Census 2011 Output Area Classification
100%
Description
I am planning on requesting the OAC2011 Special License Access to study neighbourhood classification and health.
Since the OAC2011 exists on different geographical levels (local authority district, lower layer super output area, output area), I was hoping on clarification which geographical level is included in the data set under special license?
In the File Abstract on UK Data Service it says: "These are the classifications for Output Areas and not the Output Area codes themselves. The lowest level of geography available under Special Licence is Lower Layer Super Output Areas (LSOA)." Does that mean that Output Area Classifications on LSOA level are included?
Thank you for your help

Hello Lina
The SN7629. Understanding Society: Waves 1-12, 2009-2021: Special Licence Access, Census 2011 Output Area Classification dataset contains the neighbourhood indicator (country name, supergroup, group and subgroup) and a household identification serial number for file matching to the main data.
If you are interested in the official geocodes, you must apply for one of the special licence datasets containing geographical data. For example, SN6666 (local authority district), SN7249 (middle layer super output areas) or SN7248 (lower layer super output areas). All these data files include the wave-specific household identifier (w_hidp) and one or more geographical locator variables as indicated by the filenames.
Remember you will need to submit a specific application per data file/study needed.
Hope this helps
Best wishes,
