openBHPS linked to Educational Data

Description
Dear All,
I wonder whether you could provide some info on the BHPS linked to educational data. Are those linked when they were below 16 - so drawn from the youth sample - moved to the main BHPS sample, and interviewed again when they turn 16? Or do they drop from the survey?
Thanks very much
Best wishes,
Agnes

Dear Agnes,
When youth respondents turn 16 they are eligible for the adult interview, the BHPS sample members included, this might also dependent on their sample status (please see the paragraph about the following rules here: https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/user-guides/main-survey-user-guide/interview-process)
We try to ask for the consent to link the data to the National Pupil Database every third wave, e.g. in waves 4 and 7, so the BHPS sample members (they joined the study in wave 2) would be included in the linkage. You can read more about the linkage here: https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/linked-data/education-data-linkage
Does this answer you question?
Best wishes,
