Description

Hi,

As a child might belong to different household in different waves, is it possible for me to find a stable mother pidp and household pidp for a child in different waves?

Thanks for help.

Best,
Huihui

Hello,

1) the w_child file includes pidp of natural mother, w_mnpid, and for step/adoptive mothers you can work it out from w_pns1pid, w_pns1pno, w_pns1sex, w_pns2pid, w_pns2pno, w_pns2sex,
2) the w_child file includes the household identifier of the household, hidp, but it is unique only within each wave and there is no cross-wave household identifier in Understanding Society, so, unfortunately, you cannot find a stable household identifier for children.

Best wishes,
