openWho is the respondent parent - SDQ
100%
Description
Good morning,
I was wondering whether there is a way to identify if the respondent parent is the mother or the father when it comes to child outcomes, such as mental health - SDQ questionnaire? I have merged child mental health scores based on the child pidp which is matched with parents based on the household grid. Is there a variable that would help me identify whether these questions are reported by the mother or the father?
Thank you so much,
Michaela Kyclova

Dear Michaela,
Please use the adresp15_dv variable to identify who is the responsible adult responding the SDQ questions.
Please note, however, that there might be cases where the responsible adult is not necessarily the father or mother but someone else.
Best wishes,

Dear Michaela,
There is also one more thing you might find useful. As part of Understanding Society efforts to help engage the research community more easily with UKHLS children's data, we have released a beta version for testing a new cross-wave dataset.
We have expanded the deadline for potential users to get access to this file, so your comments and suggestions particularly at this point in time will be fundamental to improve it.
We kindly invite you to explore the file and let us know your thoughts on how we could improve the dataset and its documentation before its official release or what additional resources you consider could be helpful.
