Description

I am wondering if someone is able to give some more information about the Scottish sample for the survey. More specifically, what is the total Scottish sample size? And, if possible, could you give a further breakdown by age and/or region?

Hello Ethan,

This is a complicated question as this is a longitudinal and household survey. So, the sample size depends on the type of analysis you want to do. Do you want to analyse households, adult respondents (16+), youth respondents (10-15), all enumerated household members. As this is a longitudinal survey, the sample size changes over time. For example, the number of households and adult respondents in Scotland for the 1st and 10th wave are as follows:

2262 households in Wave 1 (2009-11)
1736 households in Wave 10 (2017-19)

9556 adult respondents in Wave 10 (2009-11)
2847 adult respondents in Wave 10 (2017-19)

Best wishes,
