openHappiness Questionnaire in Youth Survey

Description
Dear US Team,
Is there more information available how to Happiness Questionnaire in the Youth Survey (10-15 year olds) was designed? (I am asking about the questions asked about happiness with the six aspects of life, incl. life as a whole, family, friends, school, school work, appearance, which have a visual scale with smiley faces.) Was there consultation with young people about the format in which the questions were asked in? Was it inspired by a previous scale?
In particular, I am interested in how to team weighed up making the questionnaire more or less consistent with the life satisfaction questions answered by those 16+ (e.g. "how satisfied are you with your life as a whole") which are, for example, not on a visual scale.
Best wishes,
Amy

Hi Amy,
The youth survey happiness/satisfaction questions have been carried forward from the BHPS Wave 4 questionnaire (1994) when these were first introduced, and the adult survey questions about life satisfaction have been carried forward from the BHPS Wave 6 adult questionanires (1996).

See Section 5.2.1 of the BHPS Quality Profile which discusses that the youth questionnaire was pre-tested, but it does not discuss any cross-walk between the satisfaction/happiness questions in the youth & adult questionnaires.
