openhousehold follow up question

Description
Dear Sir/Madam,
First of all, thank you for all the work regarding the wonderful data. I am a PhD student at UAntwerpen and am using the Understand Society data for my study. I have a question about the survey: Are the children who left the household and established a new household continuously followed? For example, a child left the original household in wave 3. Has he/she been keeping followed in his/her new household after wave 3 then? If so, where and how can we find the information?
Thank you so much for your kind help.
With kind regards,
Yu-Chin

Dear Yu-Chin,
Children are followed if they are original sample members. The following rules and definitions are in section 2.6.6 of the user guide, here: https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/sites/default/files/downloads/documentation/mainstage/user-guides/mainstage-user-guide.pdf
Individuals keep the same unique identifier, pidp, throughout the study, so if they have taken part in an adult interview at a particular wave you will find them in the indresp file for that wave. You can link them to other household members by looking at their household identifier, w_hidp, at each wave.
Best wishes,
Stephanie
