Description

Dear UKHLS Team,

I am interested in using the SF-12 in my research. However, I would prefer to work with the 12 items themselves rather than the single mental functioning score, so that I can run factor analyses and measuremnt invariance tests across different populations. I only found the derived SF-12 score in the variable search tool (sf12mcs_dv), but not the single items.

Could you provide the single items and perhaps explain why the items themselves are not available?

Dear Laura,

You don't say which wave you are working with, but from Wave 2 onwards the components of the sf12 were renamed to w_scsf* as they were part of the self completion questionnaire. You can see them listed here: https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/dataset-documentation?search_api_views_fulltext=scsf and they are available to use in the w_indresp datasets.
