Description

Hello!

I am wondering if there is a matrix available somewhere of all the variables that ever appear in any wave of Understanding Society vs which wave exactly do they appear. Basically, similar to the grid IPUMS provides for variable selection.

I am sorry if I somehow missed this information on the website, but currently I can only see the set of variables within each wave or the set of waves for individual variables. And since there are many variables I am interested in, I am getting lost where did I see what.

Thank you in advance!

Dear Nurfatima Jandarova,

We are able to produce this for you, but can I just ask if it is for mainstage or IP?

Best wishes,
Stephanie

Dear Nurfatima Jandarova,

If we produce a spreadsheet like this it will not be interactive or have links to frequency tables like the IPUMS website. Will this still be useful for you?

You may find the Index Terms section of our website provides the information you need, and this does link to variable frequencies. You can look for topics of interest and then see a list of related variables and which wave they occur. https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/dataset-documentation/index

These pages are due to be updated tomorrow but you can take a look and let me know if this provides the information you need.

Best wishes,
Stephanie

Ah, thanks a lot! The index term is indeed helpful! No need in the spreadsheet then.
