Redmine Understanding Society User Support - Support #1135 (Resolved): Wave 8 - Vote 8 - Northern Ireland https://iserredex.essex.ac.uk/support/issues/11352019-01-17T15:06:59ZFrida Bowe

Hi,

When analysing the data for Northern Ireland in wave 8, it is clear that for the Vote8 variable 2392 of the responses are inapplicable. Is this a mistake or did no-one from Norther Ireland answer the question regarding party support in last general election?
https://www.understandingsociety.ac.uk/documentation/mainstage/dataset-documentation/wave/8/datafile/h_indresp/variable/h_vote8 ]

Hi,

I am using the BHPS/UKHLS harmonised data for Northern Ireland longitudinally. What are the appropriate weights to use for this analysis? From reading the UKHLS/BHPS guides it seems that the weights are introduced to make the sample representative of UK as a whole. However, I couldn’t find what weights to use when I want the sample to be representative of Northern Ireland, not UK. I would be very grateful for any advice on this.

Yours sincerely,
Frida
